MummyBarrow Book Club

I have always been a bookworm. Ask me what I will do with an hour to myself and the answer will be “sit on the sofa with a cup of tea and a book”. A book for me is pure escapism and I try to finish every book I start.

And a proper book.  I have tried reading books on my iPad but it just doesn’t work for me.  I like holding a book and physically turning the pages.  Seeing how much I have read or how little I have left when I don’t want it to end.

Over the past few months I have begun reviewing books I have enjoyed and this has lead to me being sent a few before they were published which is an absolute thrill. I am always delighted when I talk about a book and somebody goes on to buy it. It feels like I am sharing a secret!

And so the Mummy Barrow Book Club is born.

At the beginning of each month I am going to post a picture of a particular book and the blurb from the back.   This will then be Tweeted out and members of the book club will be invited to read it over the course of the next month.   At the beginning of the next month I will then write my review on that post, inviting people to leave a comment with their review.   Or if they are a fellow blogger, write their own review on their blog and link up to my post.   The linky will be live for a month.

And then I will write the next post for the next book.  Etc Etc Etc.

There will be no obligation to do this every month. And if you have already read the book maybe you could still comment, good or bad. I am not looking to just make this page of rave reviews, some debate would be great!

There is even a badge to put on your blogs, you can get the code over there on the right.

And each blog post will have a link to Amazon where you can then buy the book.  I will get a small percentage which I will then use to buy books for giveaways.

Do let me know if there is a book you would like to nominate.   Either a classic or a new one!  Drop me an email:  or tweet me @mummybarrow and include #MummyBarrowBookClub so I can find it!!
