That’s a bold statement for a Saturday but you will need to trust me on this one, this really is the easiest ice cream recipe ever.
I really think this recipe takes some beating, on either ease, or on taste. If you are looking for a quick, no churn, no ice cream machine easy recipe then this is it (though you can make it in an ice cream maker if you want to). I have been scouring the internet for a simple vanilla ice cream recipe for months.
You see I need things to be simple. I want to chuck stuff in the ice cream maker and have ice cream an hour later. I don’t want to have to make a custard the night before, or to have to separate eggs. Or even leave something to cool. And I don’t want to have to try and translate an American recipe into English. What even is half and half? Or heavy cream?
Pish to all that I say. This is the only vanilla ice cream recipe you will ever need. I threw it in the ice cream maker but if you don’t have one buy one you can put it in a box and give it a stir after an hour or two to make sure it is all mixed.
Ladies and gentleman THREE INGREDIENT ICE CREAM
- One small can of condensed milk (397g size)
- 16 fl oz of whipping cream
- a few drops of vanilla essence
- Mix it all together
- Pour into box and put into freezer to set (stirring every couple of hours)
- Or into your ice cream maker and follow manufacturer's instructions
Okay I didn’t say it was suitable for anybody watching their weight did I? It took just half an hour to make in our Sage Appliances Smart Scoop ice cream maker and it turned into the creamiest ice cream I have ever made. And even the next day when it had been in the freezer overnight it was still easy to scoop with just a spoon:
I then used the same recipe and poured an espresso into it (leaving out the vanilla essence) before putting into the machine and making coffee ice cream. You can pretty much use it as the basis for any ice cream and you won’t go wrong.
A tip though, use the most expensive vanilla essence you can afford as it really does make a huge difference. Oh and if you want an even simpler “ice cream” then try out my one ingredient ice cream recipe. Yes, really. One ingredient ice cream.
Anybody got any cones?
Is it really only 16ml of cream? 1 tablespoon?
massive typo. Now updated. Should have been 16 fl oz. THanks for noticing.
Have to say, it was lush
Cones?
Plenty on the M6 – pick your own as well!
I’ve needed a recipe like this for ages. My hips haven’t… We use our ice cream maker for sorbet for exactly the reason that I can’t be doing with the faff of multi stage ice cream. Right – that’s me off to get some cream- thanks!
Let me know when you have had a go!!
Amazing as ever genius cooking
I don’t have any cones, but I DO have a GREAT BIG MOUTH! That looks AMAZING. And Vanilla is my kids favourite ice-cream so may well have to try that one in this house. I’m thinking even I could manage THAT recipe! 😉 x
Sounds fantastic – and so easy. Obviously not so good for the boy who can’t have dairy, but that means more for us (and we do eat a lotta sorbet). We went and tried liquid nitrogen ice-cream last week and have to say, that was fab. But a bit more complicated……
