Easter fun with National Trust

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

6 – 22 April, 10am – 5pm, normal admission plus £2.50 per trail.

At this former medieval priory kids can roam the gardens on an activity trail that introduces them to the bugs, birds, plants and fish that live here. Will you hear the splash of a jumping trout or see a daffodil dance in the breeze? Tackle the fun challenges on this Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt trail to claim a chocolate prize.

The Vyne

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

6 – 22 April, 10am – 5pm, normal admission plus £3 per trail.

Keep your eyes peeled for clues hidden around The Vyne’s gardens on this Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt. Kids will learn all about spring animals as they follow the trail, with pictures to find for tiny tots, and words challenges for older children. There are creamy chocolate treats for all entrants.

Uppark House and Garden

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

6 – 22 April, 10am – 4pm, normal admission plus £2 per trail

Uppark’s woodland animals have come out to play this Easter in the garden and meadow. Spot, draw and solve as you find out fascinating facts about these creatures on our Easter trail, leading to a delicious Cadbury chocolate prize.

Winchester City Mill

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

19 – 22 April, 10am – 4pm, normal admission plus £2 per trail

You’ll find lots of delicious chocolate fun at the Mill over the Easter weekend. Pick up a map and follow the clues around this ancient building to locate the Easter Bunny’s stash and collect your Cadbury prize.

Spring trail

6 – 18 April, 10am – 4pm, free activity (normal property admission applies)

The Mill’s new springtime challenge invites little ones to peer through telescopes hanging around the building to answer quiz questions about animals and plants found along the famous river Itchen. Prizes for all participants.

Pumpkin seed planting

11 & 16 April, 11am – 3pm, free activity (normal property admission applies)

Kids love to plant seeds and watch them grow. Outside in the Mill’s island garden discover the fun of planting your very own pumpkin seed to take home and grow on.

Baking demonstrations

19 & 21 April, 11am – 3pm, free (normal property admission applies)

You can sample freshly baked Easter treats cooked in front of you by our friendly volunteer bakers, using the Mill’s own stoneground wholemeal flour. On Good Friday, the Mill will be filled with the delicious aroma of warm spices as our bakers show you how to make hot cross buns. They’ll be baking more seasonal favourites on Easter Sunday. Find out how to make all these delights, buy some fresh flour and take away a recipe card so you can get cracking on some baking fun at home.

Milling demonstrations

Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the holidays, plus Good Friday and Easter Monday, 11am – 4pm, free (normal property admission applies)

See how this fully restored working water mill produces stoneground wholemeal flour using the power of the river Itchen. The Mill’s expert millers will guide you round and answer any questions you have about this wonderful industrial heritage gem.

Foxbury, New Forest

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

21 & 22 April, 11am-4pm, £3 National Trust members, £5 non-members, under 5s go free. Call 01794 344020 for more information.

In Foxbury’s hidden basecamp, tucked quietly away in a woodland setting, kids can learn about the Forest’s birds on this year’s Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt. Discover what insects they like to eat and where they build their nests. There’s loads more on offer, from den-building sessions and bushcraft activities, to a chance to meet some friendly visiting animals. There’s chainsaw carving too, and tractors, plus warming treats – tuck into toasted marshmallows and our BBQ around the camp fire.

Directions: Foxbury can be accessed via Half Moon car park on Blackhill Road (SO51 6AQ). Wear stout weather proof boots.
