There is something about the changing seasons that makes me want to slow down a little. The mornings are darker, the evenings are drawing in and suddenly the thought of going out in the cold doesn’t seem quite as appealing as it did a few weeks ago.
Instead, I’m dreaming of cosy evenings, a blanket on the sofa, something good on the telly and a bag of something delicious to nibble on.
Because let’s be honest, sometimes a snack isn’t just a snack. It’s a little moment of comfort in an otherwise busy day. And as we head into autumn, I’m rather enjoying finding ways to make those little moments feel a bit better for me, too.
Which brings me to Treat Trunk.

What’s in the box?
Treat Trunk is a monthly snack box delivered straight to your door, filled with a selection of healthier treats designed to make snacking a little more interesting. The full-size box contains around 20 to 25 snacks, with a different selection each month, so there’s always something new to discover.
I really like the idea of having a whole month’s worth of snacks arrive in one box. No wandering around the supermarket trying to find something that looks vaguely healthy, no buying something in the hope it’ll be nice only to discover it tastes like cardboard, and no having to remember to order individual things from a dozen different places.
It’s all there, ready and waiting.
The snacks are chosen with health in mind, focusing on real-food ingredients and better-for-you alternatives to the usual sugary treats. The selection is predominantly vegan-friendly, too, although it’s always worth checking individual ingredients and allergen information if you have particular dietary requirements.
And importantly, this isn’t about giving up treats. I’m a firm believer that life is too short to make food joyless. It’s about having options that feel a little more nourishing without losing the pleasure of eating something lovely.
A healthier kind of treat
One of the things I like about the Treat Trunk concept is that it makes healthier snacking feel easy. We all know that eating well is about the bigger picture, but sometimes convenience wins. When you’re tired, busy or simply can’t be bothered to prepare something, it’s very easy to reach for whatever happens to be closest.
Having a box of snacks ready to go means there are other choices available.
I also like that the emphasis is on discovering different products, including those from smaller brands. It makes the whole experience feel a little more like exploring than simply restocking the kitchen cupboards.
And for anyone who prefers to avoid alcohol, it’s worth mentioning that Treat Trunk offers alcohol-free options, including its alcohol-free hampers. If you’re ordering a particular box, do check the description to make sure it meets your requirements.
Perfect for those autumn evenings
I think this is where Treat Trunk really appeals to me at this time of year.
As the seasons change, our routines change with them. Summer is full of long evenings, days out and the feeling that there’s always time to squeeze one more thing into the day. Autumn feels different. It invites us to come indoors, put the kettle on and give ourselves permission to do a little less.
There’s something rather lovely about knowing that, when I settle down on the sofa, I’ve got a choice of snacks waiting for me. Something to try with a cup of tea, something to pop into my bag when I’m heading out with my camera, or something to enjoy when the afternoon slump arrives.
And because the box arrives at the door, there’s no need to make a special trip to find them.
I like anything that makes everyday life that little bit easier, particularly when it gives me more time to do the things I actually want to do. Whether that’s heading out to take photographs, spending time with family or simply enjoying an evening at home, having the practical things sorted is a small but welcome pleasure.
How much does Treat Trunk cost?
The full-size monthly Treat Trunk subscription costs £39.99, and contains 20 to 25 snacks. There’s also a smaller Mini Treat Trunk, priced at £24.99 a month, containing around 10 to 15 snacks.
I appreciate that £39.99 isn’t an insignificant amount of money, and whether it’s right for you will depend on your budget and how you like to shop. But if you enjoy trying new snacks and would otherwise spend money buying healthier alternatives individually, having a selection delivered together could be a convenient option.
There’s also something to be said for the surprise element. Rather than buying the same few things every week, you get the opportunity to try different products and perhaps find a new favourite along the way.
And, of course, you don’t have to commit to a subscription if you’d rather try a box first. One-off boxes are available, too.
A little discount for you

My final thoughts
I like the idea behind Treat Trunk because it recognises something quite simple: looking after ourselves doesn’t have to mean taking all the pleasure out of everyday life.
Sometimes it’s about making a few better choices. Sometimes it’s about trying something new. And sometimes it’s about giving ourselves permission to curl up on the sofa, enjoy a snack and call that an entirely respectable way to spend an autumn evening.
As the nights draw in, I can think of worse things than having a month’s worth of interesting treats delivered straight to the door.
Now, where’s that blanket?
I was sent a box to review with no commitment to post. All thoughts are my own
