If you have followed me for a while you will know that my husband likes to grow chillis. Lots of chillis. Like so many chilli plants all over the patio you can’t move for them over the summer. Alongside tomatoes. Our patio is positively awash with stuff from about May onwards, all grown from seed, all tucked up in a greenhouse on cooler nights and when it gets really cold
I could never class myself as a foodie blogger but I do try, though it would never be described as haut cuisine. Comfort is how I would describe most of the things I produce, and if it can all be done in one pan then I am all over it. This is where my recipes, restaurant reviews and kitchen appliance reviews live. And badly shot photos of food in general.

Making yogurt with Probio7 — AD
I have to admit I am not always a fan of yogurt. Well I am, but sometimes I find they are just too, well yogurty. The flavour is a bit too over the top and the mouth feel is a bit synthetic rather than creamy. You know how a goats cheese can sometimes just taste of grass? A bit like that. But then I have never made yogurt at home,

Time to talk day
“Conversations have the power to change lives” is a really powerful statement isn’t it? But it’s true and something we should all be reminded of today, Time to Talk Day, and in fact every day. I have been quite vocal about my mental health on social media, being honest about the days I feel less than positive and every time I open up I get messages thanking me for my

Want amazing home made pizza? (AD)
I first wrote this post almost four years ago now and over lockdown we got pizza kits from a local company that had pivoted their business since they couldn’t sell hot pizza from their truck. Having those kits delivered and being able to make and cook them on our Firepod really was the highlight of our week sometimes. We looked forward to the kits being dropped on our doorsteps

Yorkshire Tea, jam and toast flavour
Last month I spotted on Twitter that Yorkshire Tea and released a new flavour of tea, not, as I hoped, specifically for people who like to drink their tea without milk, but flavoured with jam and toast. I mean, seriously? Tea flavoured with jam and toast? I wasn’t impressed, as you can see from the tweet above. I stand by that middle sentence, who in God’s name thought this was

Curried chicken with mango dressing
This curried chicken salad with a mango yogurt dressing is the perfect weekend lunch, or lazy midweek supper. Relatively cheap and all cooked in one dish, my favourite kind of meal! I am not normally a fan of fruit with savoury dishes (don’t get me started on pineapple on pizzas for instance) so tend to avoid things like this but actually this works and isn’t too over powering at all.

Slow Cooker Strawberry Cheesecake
Did you know you could make a slow cooker strawberry cheesecake? People often associate slow cookers with stews, or casseroles, or in fact anything savoury. And most definitely wintery. It is less often associated with sweet things. Like cheesecake. Cheesecake? In a slow cooker? I know.. I know… you think I have finally lost the plot. But trust me, this works, and it says “summer” like nothing else. And I

My apple punch recipe — AD
My apple punch recipe is a really simple non alcoholic drink, perfect a family get together (when we can have them again). I was asked a little while ago if I would like to work with Jazz Apples, providing them with a recipe that would be featured in their latest e-book. I jumped at the chance! Ten fellow bloggers were asked to submit their favourite recipes featuring Jazz Apples

Chicken, ciabatta and green bean tray bake
Lazy chicken, ciabatta and green bean tray bake is a really simple and quick supper. Since lockdown our days have been much more lazy, more laid back and less clock watching. Whilst I still get up at the same time every day, and go to bed at the same time, the hours in between just merge and before I know it it’s 5pm and keen to get in front of

Percy Pig Ice Cream — A Review.
Percy Pig ice cream This post was originally written back in 2011 when Marks And Spencer first launched their Percy Pig ice cream lollies. The news they had now launched it in tub form came out recently and I couldnt have been more excited. Except because of the current restrictions on shopping, I cant get any! So in the meantime, here is a story of the

Lemonade Scones recipe
A quick and easy lemonade scones recipe I have been making this recipe for about 20 years, simply because the first time I heard about it I thought it was just too bonkers to be serious. And then once I had done it a few times and realised it did actually work it became my “go to” scone recipe. It is also a great way of getting children involved in
