I didn’t even know there was a canal museum here I didn’t even know there was a canal museum here until a few of you lovely people pointed it out to me when I asked for things to do around Towcester. We managed to dodge more showers and visit yesterday afternoon. Who doesn’t love a wander along a tow path?

Locks never cease to amaze me so it was fascinating to learn a bit more about the people that built them in the late 1700s and early 1800s.

Though I’ll be honest it wasn’t as fascinating as the brownie / chocolate drizzled flapjack comparison that happened in the museum cafe where we hid when the heavens opened.

Bonus points for the museum being free (and somehow the parking because we think the parking app was having a funny five minutes), there being two pubs, duck food on sale, a restaurant and an abundance of cute dogs.

Oh and it was the flapjack. Definitely the flapjack.
We spent the morning mooching round Towcester and We spent the morning mooching round Towcester and to be honest a morning is all you need. It’s not surprising that most people say either “ah yes, the racecourse” or “Silverstone” when you mention it. Which is a shame as there is steeps of history in the town, dating back to those pesky Romans.

We managed to dodge the rain though and now the plan is to find somewhere to watch the footie as it’s City in some sort of important match. Apparently.

The third of our -cester towns ticked off the list.
I wanted my #WinOfTheWeek this week to be that I’ve managed to track down testosterone but nope …. Despite getting a prescription for it (in itself something I know many struggle with) there isn’t a pharmacy in twenty miles that has it. My regular pharmacy has even called the manufacturer and they can’t tell them when they’ll get it. And there’s two people ahead of me in the queue so even if some comes in there’s no guarantee I’ll get any. But we don’t need a Menopause Tsar anymore because it’s all sorted. Don’t get me started.

So my actual win of the week is this stunning bit of latte art Mr B created this week. If you’ve seen his usual attempts you’ll know this is next level 😂

We also won our local regular quiz night with a staggering 40/50 points. Nope, I don’t know how we did that either (well I do, there was a round on maths that I played no part in and we got 10/10).

And now it’s the weekend and we’re off to do the third of our “let’s visit all the -cester towns” and heading to Towcester.

What are you up to and what’s your #WinOfTheWeek ?

About me
Hello, and welcome to Mummy Barrow, a lifestyle blog written by me, T. T is short for Tanya (but nobody uses that unless I am in trouble) and I live in the south east of England with my husband Bruce. Gin and family life feature heavily on the blog. My previous working life was as either a PA or in the property industry but now I am a full time blogger and like to try and share words of wisdom or positivity over on Instagram and snippets of our life on here. I am a mum of three 20-somethings and also recently became a proud granny. I am never far from a cuppa or a large gin, depending on the time of day.
