It is easy to focus on the booze at Christmas, heck I am even doing a gin advent calendar.
“Have we got dessert wine to go with the pudding?”
“Is there enough fizz for breakfast?”
“How many bottles of red wine do we need for the mulled wine on Christmas Eve?”
It is all about the alcohol apparently. Which is not so great if you are the designated driver, pregnant or just not drinking. Nothing says you hadn’t really thought about these guests more than just producing a jug of tap water with slices of lemon in an effort to keep them hydrated. So why not grab a load of drinks that are either great on their own or with a couple of other ingredients can soon be super tasty mocktails. I recently came across the Feel Good Drinks range when they asked me if I wanted to review their drinks and share the range with friends. The overwhelming response from those we shared with was “wow it isn’t as sweet as I thought it would be”.
You know how sometimes drinks can be quite sickly, or slightly too thick? Well these drinks were neither of those. 100% natural and with no added sugar they come in a range of flavours and sizes and are available from all good supermarkets.
They were great on their own with ice or as one of the following mocktails:
The Do Gooder
200ml Apple and Elderflower Feel Good drink
100mls ginger ale
squeeze of lemon
sugar
lemon peel garnish
Moisten the rim of the glass and then dip it into the sugar to give you a pretty rim to the glass. Add ice to the glass, then fill with the apple and elderflower and ginger ale and add the squeeze of lemon. Decorate the glass with the lemon garnish
The Hand Warmer
275mls Cranberry and Pomegranate Feel Good drink
Squeeze of half an orange
2 cinnamon sticks
Orange slice to garnish
In a saucepan add 275mls of Cranberry and Pomegranate, the squeeze of orange juice and the cinnamon. Leave until it begins to bubble and boil before turning down to a simmer. Pour into a glass and add the orange slice for decoration
Marvelous Mojito
275mls Cranberry and Lime Feel Good drink
2 sprigs of mint
Half a lime
3 raspberries
Put the mint in a glass with ice and pour over the drink. Squeeze in the lime, and garnish with raspberries
Shirley Temple
Popping candy
1tbs of grenadine syrup
275mls of ginger ale
Maraschino cherry
Moisten the rim of a glass and then dip it in the popping candy to garnish the rim. Add the grenadine and pour the ginger ale over the top. Garnish with the cherry
Sparkling sangria
Sparkling grape juice
Sliced apples, strawberries, oranges, frozen grapes
Put all the fruit into a jug with lots of ice. Add the sparkling grape juice.
