Beauty:
the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as in shape, colour, sound etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest).
Beauty for me is generally to be found in the natural world. Long stretches of sandy beach, sunlight and shadows on the garden, or spectacular views.
This picture, for this week’s Gallery, was taken in 2007 during a family holiday with another family in Wales, near Llanberis and Snowdon. We had gone “on to the top road” and stopped to look at the view and for the kids (five of them between us) to go and climb rocks.
I remember clearly just being blown away by the size of the sky. That sounds an odd thing to say, we all know the sky is huge. But how much of the sky do we ever really get to see in one view in one direction?
For me this is beautiful.
An amazing sky
An incredible view
Kids being kids out in the natural world without a computer or phone in sight
That’s my idea of beauty.
What’s yours?
Beautifully rural and simple…. something missing in many peoples every day life.

Isnt it just, Molly. The simple things.
Bloomin’ lovely part of the world. Breathtaking infact. And Wales is the only place we’ve been on holiday that my boys still talk about. How d’ya like them apples, DisneyWorld?!!
It is stunning isn’t it? We don’t get there as often as we would like.
Wonderful post and a fantastic picture.
Thank you. It’s quite a view!

One of those moments when everything is right with the world! Lovely photograph! 🙂
A fab photo! It looks so beautiful and peaceful there. I agree about nature being beautiful and I LOVE camping as you forget about technology for a few days x
Wonderful photo. I love big skies too :o).
Absolutely stunning! x
Big sky and panorama shots like these always remind me how fragile we are. A beautiful photo x.
What a beautiful post, and a lovely photo to remind you of your holiday and such an amazing part of the world. I find seeing that much sky at once so relaxing.
