The theme for The Gallery this week is Sunshine. What a gorgeous theme.
Having basked all weekend in record temperatures I debated posting something full of sunshine and then thought that nobody wanted to see my pasty white bits so I decided to hunt through the archives for something a tad more appropriate.
With sunshine, comes sunset.
And this particular sunset was last year in Holetown, Barbados. That boat on the horizon is a glass bottom boat that we had spent the afternoon snorkelling from. We had stopped off at the local bar (our regular haunt, Zacchio’s) for a few bottles of Banks beer and rum punches and to watch the sun set.
It sets early over there, around 6pm, so it is always dark by 7pm but no matter how many times I watch it, I never tire of this view or that last glimpse of the sun each day. Sunset feels like the perfect time of day to sit on the beach with something cold. Just staring out to the distance, feeling the warmth of the sun on the sand, listening to the Caribbean gently roll in and out, washing away the day. I find my breathing slowing down and falling in with the ebb and flow of the sea, it is always a blissful end to the day.
I soooo want to be sitting under that tree with a beer!
What a gorgeous photograph. I’d quite like to be sitting under a palm tree myself right now. Beautiful. X
Oohh lovely x
