A Menorcan Sojourn — Day one

We arrived at Villa Grace late last night, slightly battered by a rather disrupted flight (not the fault of the airline at all, who were amazing,  but a rather loud passenger who not only screamed for an hour but kicked the back our seats and threw things at our heads) and pretty much dumped our stuff and headed out to find somewhere to eat.  From a first glance though our villa is gorgeous, light and airy with tiled floors and floor to ceiling windows that mean tomorrow’s sunrise is going to be a belter.

It is situated on Arenal D’en Castell,  a resort on the northern side of Menorca and is a purpose built so it is all well maintained and, well, beautifully organised.    James Villas have several properties here and Villa Grace is a lovely three bedroom, two bathroom place with it’s own pool.  The villa was spotless, with satellite TV, a barbecue, a dishwasher and a fully stocked kitchen.   You could quite happily arrive here and not really leave the resort if you didn’t want to hire a car (we have as we like to explore but if you want have young children and just want to lie by a pool or a week then this would be perfect).

Clean with well laid out roads the resort is on the north side of the island, and our villa gaves us a view of the sea, small yachts bobbing past and is wonderfully peaceful.  Interspersed by lots of greenery and white washed villas it is the perfect base for a week in the sun.     It also has lots to offer by way of entertainment, all within a short stroll of the villas.

There are bars, souvenir shops, a nice hotel and restaurant, water parks, and steps down to one of the best beaches on the island.   Oh and if you buy an inflatable they will even blow it up for you (yes we did buy a unicorn which has now been called Richard.  Rude not to really)

I am ashamed to say we didn’t make use of any of the above that night since we didnt arrive until gone 10pm.  We stopped at the first bar we found, called the Flamingo,  ate incredible pizza, steaming bowls of moules, and learned that “broken eggs, ham and natural potatoes”, is ham, egg and chips!

Our holiday has begun!

Thank you to James Villas who have allowed us to be their guests this week.  All thoughts and opinions in our coverage from Menorca are our own
