You see this graphic below? Well this is us. Completely. In a few months time we are off to the Loire and we weighed up all the pros and cons of how to get there. Mr B has a high performance four seater luxury car, and I have a more economical five seater with zero boot space that is tiny. So we seriously considered flying and then hiring a car the other end, given that we are only 5 minutes from Southampton airport.
But then having seen the evidence above, it really is a no brainer, isn’t it?
Not just the cost, but also the complete lack of hassle. Get in the car with all your stuff, and share the drive and you can get pretty damn close to where you need to be, not dumped at an airport in the middle of nowhere. The idea that we have to be restricted to a certain number of suitcases and that I can’t just cram another pair of shoes into the glove box pretty much sells it to me. As does the idea that for six hours of it we aren’t driving at all but can be relaxing at sea. The teens can wander off and do their own thing, safe in the knowledge they can’t really get lost. And Mr B can have a snooze in our cabin whilst I curl up with a cup of tea and a good book.
So. Who else is coming with us?
