This fabulous pottery works sits up on a hill over looking the west coast of Barbados and has, in my opinion, one of the most spectacular views on the island.
As it rained at the villa yesterday we headed to the hills to see if the weather would be any better, as it often is if you go inland and get higher, or go to the other side.
As we got out of the car, this was the view behind us
And whilst we may have come to get out of the rain and to admire the view, what most people come for is the pottery.
It is iconic. And everywhere on the island. No returning suitcase can be without at least one plate or mug. THough they do ship for you so you can have Duty Free prices (we have done this in previous years and the boxes when they arrive are fantastic. So well packed that there is no chance of anything getting broken).
It was set up in 1983 by one lady, Goldie Spieler and now is known pretty much the world over.
They also do a pretty damn good panini in the cafe, served, of course, on some of their own designs:
If you are ever in Barbados, do visit. You don’t need directions, there is a sign on every telegraph pole on the island!
