Getting some me time

Exhausting isn’t it?  This holiday season.   That and the shorter days.  And the end of term.  And it feeling like forever since you had a holiday.  Or even a proper day off.   And all you can see ahead of you is a chasing your tail with getting ready for Christmas with present buying and food organising.

One thing you won’t be doing, I am sure, is making sure you get some “me time”.  And do you know what?  You really should.   It is amazing just how much of a difference just ten minutes for a quick recharge can make to your overall well being.   At any time of the year, but even more so now.

Below are some of my top tips for getting some me time in order to recharge your batteries.

Headspace

This is probably my favourite app ever.  Ever ever.   Helping you meditate for 10 minutes.  Just ten minutes.   Everybody can find ten minutes in their day and believe me if you follow the app for a month you will feel so much better.  Calmer and grounded and ready to take on the world I tell you.

Pamper Parcels

These are an amazing way of sending somebody else an excuse to have some “me time”, or of course treating yourself.    A company set up this year by the amazing Rosie Shelley.   She has even been noticed by Theo Paphitis who awarded her his Small Business Sunday accolade recently and almost single handedly melted Rosie’s twitter feed.   Their ethos is simple:

We’re conscious about the impact to others of every item we include in our parcels. So we’ve opted for natural, organic and Fairtrade products from reputable companies we respect and value. We’re also, naturally, supportive of other independent businesses and include items from their businesses in our parcels too.

We are against animal testing and none of the items included in our parcels have been tested on animals. You can find full product and supplier listings on our product and suppliers page, along with a full list of ingredients and relevant dietary information.

Our cardboard boxes are made from recycled materials. As a business we aim to recycle all our packaging materials and office supplies, and use recycled materials, as far as possible.

I am a huge fan of Rosie and this company.  Little things like a small “pass it on” present being included really makes me smile.  Alot.

Scented Candles

I am a huge fan of scented candles.   Just lighting one really makes me breathe out and immediately calm down.   Sitting down with a cup of tea and watching a candle burn is one of my favourite ways to take a break during the day

Standing on grass

Okay, this is an odd one and not really one for this time of year I grant you.  But remember this one for the future.  If you stand on the grass with your shoes and socks off, and just take three huge lungfuls of air you will be amazed how much better you feel afterwards.   When I did my reiki training it is all about being grounded and balancing chakras.   But there is no greater way to ground yourself than to actually connect with the ground.

So next time you are feeling a bit stressed, have a go at one of these and then do let me know how you feel afterwards!
