Lap Land Silverstone

AD — Gifted tickets

Just off the M40 might not be your first thought for where to find Lap Land this year, but if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to expect the unexpected.

And so off we went in early December, to a perfectly socially-distanced-doesnt-matter-if-its-raining event that the whole family can enjoy.

In the comfort and safety of their own cars, visitors will drive on the iconic Silverstone Formula 1 track under darkness and be treated to a spectacular laser and light show around the circuit at this theatrical Christmas attraction. A dedicated LAP LAND Radio Station will add to the festivities, providing a musical backdrop with seasonal singalong favourites to bring the Christmas spirit right into the hearts of the cars.

After taking the chequered flag on track, LAP LAND visitors can continue to enjoy the festive-al with a classic favourite at the LAP LAND drive-in cinema, flying off to join The Snowman for an unforgettable adventure.

Set to wow audiences and create a new family Christmas tradition alongside pantos, grottos and carol concerts, LAP LAND will be a leisurely tour of the Silverstone track with a 30 to 40 minute experience that will give visitors plenty of time to wonder at the dazzling illuminations.

The event opened on December 10th, and runs until January 3rd.   You can get all the information, and ticket prices here.   With tickets from £35 for a car that means you could enjoy this experience for just £7 per person!   There is also an opportunity to buy hot drinks and snacks before you head round the track (oh and there are loos too).

As well as being able to drive the circuit (I mean, come on, who hasn’t dreamed of driving around Silverstone?! And yes, this is the actual track, not a training track round the back of the Grandstand.  It is the Actual Track) you can buy tickets to a drive in movie experience for after the light show and make a real night of it.   I said earlier in lockdown that I really wanted drive in cinemas to stay beyond lockdown and Covid restrictions because all the things I hate about cinemas (people talking, interruptions from people needing go to the loo, smelly nachos two seats away) are eliminated and this further confirms why they are brilliant.

The cinema experience is a showing of The Snowman which means it is suitable for all the family and makes a lovely end to the evening.

If you are looking to do something a bit different in the next week or two, then have a look at doing this, but be quick as it is selling out fast!
