.Ever thought about mulling cider? It is a little more subtle than mulled wine so here is a mulled cider recipe.
This is a really quick recipe for mulled cider that you can either make to entertain friends or you can just make the bouquets and put them in a tin or a basket and give them as a gift.
For the bouquets you will need a large Le Creuset style casserole pan with a lid (I got mine from TX Maxx years ago) and the following ingredients:
- For each one:
- 1 Coffee filter
- ½-inch cinnamon stick
- 4 whole Allspice
- 2 pods cardamom
- 4 black peppercorns
- ¼ teaspoon cloves
- Twine
- Place all ingredients inside the coffee filter and then tie with twine.
If you want to knock up a batch add two bouquets for every litre of cider, or bottle of red wine.
You can also sling an extra cinnamon stick in whilst it bubbles away if you wish. In fact you can play around with the flavours to your heart’s content! You can even play around with the alcohol you warm too. We love doing this on a Sunday afternoon as not only does it warm you up, it also makes the house smell gorgeous too. And because it is in a large pan with a lid you an leave it gently bubbling on low on the stove so you can keep topping up your mug as and when you like without worrying it will spoil. We have also been known to make a warm gin, served with slabs of ginger cake, in the same way.
Enjoy!

What a brilliant idea. Eaten and drank far too much lately but still room for this. Naturally. Elinor x
