Sing The Movie!

Sing the movie!

Sing

Everything I have seen about this film has screamed “cancel all your plans and go see it”.     It comes out on general release tomorrow (January 27th) though there were special preview screenings last weekend all over the country.  And let me tell you I was looking daggers at those on Facebook who were posting pics of it, I was uber jealous.

To celebrate release tomorrow I have been  asked  if I want to have  karaoke night and blast out some tunes from the soundtrack.  Oh hello.  They have cleared heard about my legendary night on Sing Star on New Years’ Eve last year.    They couldn’t get me off it.   I blame the booze.

Anyway, back to Sing.

Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing stars Buster Moon(McConaughey), a dapper koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen onhard times.  Buster is an eternalsome might even say delusionaloptimist who loveshis theater above all and will do anything to preserve it.  Now faced with the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its formerglory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.
Five lead contestants emerge: Mike (MacFarlane), a mouse who croons assmoothly as he cons; Meena (Kelly), a timid teenage elephant with an enormous case ofstage fright; Rosita (Witherspoon), an overtaxed mother run ragged tending a litter of 25piglets; Johnny (Egerton), a young gangster gorilla looking to break free of his family’s felonies; and Ash (Johansson), a punk-rock porcupine struggling to shed her arrogant boyfriend and go solo.
Each arrives under Buster’s marquee believing that this is their shot to change the course of their life.  And as Buster coaches each of his contestants closer and closer to the grand finale, he starts to learn that maybe the theater isn’t the only thing that is in need of saving.
It really is an all star singing and dancing cast and the soundtrack is nothing short of epic.
There are trailers and all sorts of information on the official film website:  Sing the Film
Now if you will excuse me I am off to practice my harmonising ahead of tomorrow night’s karaoke night.  I might even share some of the top moments on instagram.
