The perfect Bath weekend itinerary

Need an itinerary for Bath as you are heading there for the weekend (I mean, why wouldnt you, its a fabulous city) then here is my handy itinerary to make sure you come away having seen the best bits of the city. There really is so much explore and it is all best done on foot

Saturday

  • Check-in at your hotel, and leave your luggage with them as chances are your room wont be available until later in the afternoon. Bear in mind when booking that pretty much none of the city centre hotels have their own parking. Most suggest you use a nearby multi storey, with the cost being just under £20 for 24 hours and then it is around a five minute walk. There is also a great park and ride in Bath that is worth considering too. You wont need your car once in the city so leave it on the outskirts and let the bus bring you in.
  • Lunch: Head to a nearby affordable cafe like The Courtyard Cafe or Sally Lunn’s Historic Eating House, situated in one of the oldest buildings in Bath. You cant really say you have “done Bath” if you haven’t been here
  • Bath Farmer’s Market. Always worth a visit on a Saturday if it is on,
  • Visit Bath Abbey: Explore this beautiful historic church, known for its stunning architecture. You can enjoy the tranquility and learn about its history that dates back over a thousand years.
  • Roman Baths: another building that dates back to around 70AD. A must visit and right next to the Abbey so easily visited at the same time.
  • Tea Break: Take a break at the Pump Room in the Baths for traditional afternoon tea, offering a lovely atmosphere and classic English treats.
  • Dinner: Enjoy dinner at The Oven Pizzeria, a budget-friendly Italian restaurant with accessible facilities.
  • Stroll through the well-lit streets of Bath, taking in the beautiful Georgian architecture and the romantic ambiance and say at least a hundred times “gosh if these walls could talk”.

Sunday

  • Breakfast: Grab a quick and affordable breakfast at The Green Rocket Cafe, offering vegetarian and vegan options and better value for money than a hotel breakfast (though dont get me wrong, I do love a hotel breakfast).
  • Thermae Bath Spa: Spend your morning at the Thermae Bath Spa, known for its naturally warm, mineral-rich waters. The spa offers accessible facilities too, as well as a relaxing environment.
  • Lunch: Enjoy a light lunch at Boston Tea Party, which offers a range of sandwiches and salads and sits right opposite the Assembly Rooms which you might recognise if you are a fan of Bridgerton.
  • No. 1 Royal Crescent: Visit this historic Georgian townhouse museum, which provides an insight into life in Bath during the 18th century. The ground floor is accessible for those with mobility issues. Though it is some distance from the centre of Bath, and up a hill so do bear that in mind.
  • Victoria Park: Take a leisurely stroll or relax in Victoria Park, a beautiful green space with accessible paths and benches.
  • Visit the shops! There are lots of lovely shops in Bath, some with names you will recognise but also lots of other small independents.
  • Dinner: Have dinner at The Scallop Shell, a seafood restaurant known for its fish and chips (and Marco Pierre White said it was favourite restaurant in the whole of Wiltshire and Somerset).
  • If you’re up for it, enjoy an evening walk around the city centre to see Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths beautifully lit up and offering a very different view from the one inside. It was one of my favourite things to do when we visited. Don’t forget the Pulteney Bridge and Weir too.

Bath is one of those rare places that is fun to explore both during the day and in the evening, that dates back centuries but still offers a comfortable and perfect spot for a weekend getaway and so I hope you found this Bath itinerary useful!

If you are there longer or can squeeze in more food, try and get to The Bath Bun on Abbey Green. It’s gorgeous.
