This has been like homework this week. I have always dug out an old photo for Tara’s Gallery post each week but I don’t have anything remotely interesting for this category.
So off I went with the camera this week to take a picture especially for this post. A picture that you will see on every street corner in Barbados.
Men huddled round a table, playing dominoes or cards. Sometimes drinking rum or sometimes just “chewing the fat”.
These guys are taxi drivers waiting for the next fare in what might look like a bus shelter. But a bus shelter with a TV screen in the corner.
Whatever the reason for their being there you will see a group like this on every street on the island.
Excellent – a great post
Thanks Louise!
Love that shot. The fact that it is black and white adds even more atmosphere to it.
Phew, thanks so much. I wasnt sure about the black and white “angle” to begin with so it is great to hear that it works. Thank you
I love this photograph. It’s telling a story. In fact it could the a story starter prompt and it might just turn into one! I’ve posted up two street photos that show how to escape the heat of the sun and it looks as if that’s exactly what your taxi drivers are doing. This is my first time on the Gallery so ‘hi!’
Thanks for your comment…. off to look at yours now!
Simply stunning I love this image.
Thanks Claire!
Love it! x

Great photo and effect! If I were a taxi driver in Barbados, that is exactly what I would like to be doing too 🙂
Me too! Nice and shady and a great place to watch the world go by
Fantastic picture. Works so well in black and white.
I was nervous of the black and white! glad it worked
Looks so relaxed, what a lifestyle!
Greatppicture!
Excellent photo. Not a dissimilar situation to the cabbies over here in their office!
I also loved the domino playing! they seem so concentrated on it. enjoy it there x
