The Gallery — Two

Two

A simple enough theme on The Gallery this week, but what to show.   The two of us?  Two of my children (then what about the third?  Which one to leave out?).  Two glasses ? (too much booze chatter recently).

And then on Saturday night we went out to friends for a barbecue and I saw my chance.

Two photos.  Of two couples.

Two mates having a drink.   Bruce and Rols.   Me and Mrs Cooke.   Mrs Cooke is really, Jo but as she is a teacher she has always been Mrs Cooke to me.    It is a hideous picture of me, I have no idea what I am doing but one thing is for sure, I have had a great evening.

The Cookes are our old next door neighbours and two of my favourite people in the world.  We don’t get to catch up very often as they are both teachers and work harder than anybody I know.   But when we do it is just the most laid back and fun filled few hours.

You know when you have a friendship that just is.  You don’t have to work at it.  Nobody feels miffed that you haven’t spoken in a couple of weeks, or haven’t seen them in a couple of months?  That’s how it is with the Cookes.

And is why we end up with photos like that.

  • I have a friend like that. She’s in her fifties and I’m in my thirties, but we’re like a couple of teenagers when we get together and hubby sits there like he’s watching a tennis match cuz we have two different conversations at the same time because we want to catch up so quickly.

She’s been ill recently and they don’t know what’s wrong with her, but the word cancer has been bandied about.

  • I agree with you theres something so great and easy to relax and have a laugh with good mates !! My friends are all nutcases like me and we get into fits giggles quite quickly after getting “back together” …..sign of a fab mate I reckon !! 🙂 xxx

  • What do I think of when I think of “two” ??
……………… don’t tempt me! It might take TWO years off my life!!

  • I have a couple of friendships like that, one is older than me and one younger, both equally as mad a a box of frogs and I love them both. They make my cry with laughter, which doesn’t help my crows feet 🙂

  • Well everyone definitely looks relaxed – some more than others! Jokes aside, I definitely agree that those kind of friendships are rare and well worth cherishing 🙂

  • I love you Mrs Barrow. We are the luckiest people to have such wonderful friends like you too. Much love as always xxx

  • Love the pictures. My best friend is coming to stay this weekend and although we only see each other once or twice a year, it is as if we see each other every day!

  • Great photos, I think you are very fortunate to have friends like that. It certainly looks like you all have fun together!
