With all this news of a meteorite falling to the ground in Russia it seemed to make sense that this recently published book be the Mummy Barrow Book Club Selection for March. Alex, our central character is hit on the head by a meteorite at a young age and it quite literally changes his life.

Social Pix — March 3rd
Since coming back from Ghana it has all been about fund raising for Comic Relief. The first of the fund raisers being an epic challenge to climb Snowdon (not by me. I was Chief Clipboard holder at the bottom with all the next of kin numbers). At 4pm on Saturday after seven hours in glorious sunshine (but scrabbling over snow) a small celebration took place.

Ranty Friday — Passports
Oh yes, this week’s Ranty Friday is all about passports and the nonsense unfathomable form we have to fill in Now I like to think of myself as relatively intelligent. I dont have a maths GCSE and I am rubbish at grammar but I get by. English is my first language so red tape and form filling is relatively straight forward generally. Until it comes to filling in passport applications.

Wine Relief and the Knackered Mother’s Wine Club
No, I don’t mean that sense of “ahhhhh” as the first mouthful of wine hits your tongue at the end of a long week. I mean Wine Relief from Comic Relief. There seems to be nothing that Comic Relief don’t have a paw in (by the way, have you heard the speaking clock? Dial it from your landline, 10p goes to Comic Relief). And Wine Relief is just a brilliant

Vapiano Restaurant — A review
Vapiano Restaurant — A review I am not a big fan of “concept” restaurants. I often feel that the concept is just that and that they don’t really work for the customer. So when I heard about Vapiano Restaurant being huge in Europe it felt like a concept restaurant. Pasta made in front of you and you had to queue to order? I have been in restaurants where they

Admitting to taking drugs
My ears were pricked when I heard about a new study being discussed this week. A study done in the US by Dr Jennifer Kam recently that looked at 500 high school pupils and their conversations with their parents about cigarettes, marijuana and alcohol. And whether parents should be admitting to taking drugs.

This time next week — The fund raising will have begun
Yep, in earnest. With the toughest challenge first. On Friday a group of us are all meeting up at the foot of Snowdon and then this time next week will be climbing it. Why? In aid of Comic Relief of course. What’s funny about that you might think? After all, Comic Relief is all about doing something funny for money. Well how about doing it with pants OVER the top

Ranty Friday — Local Councils
Earlier in the week I read this story. Mother of eleven has six bed council house built Now I am not going to judge this lady. I know nothing about her and at the end of the day, whether anybody likes it or not, she is entitled to a house. She obviously meets certain criteria set by the Council who have agreed to house her.

Dear PR and SEO companies
Good morning and thank you for your email. I always love getting emails from you (either PR or SEO expert, or website owner who has something lovely to sell) or other people within your field, it brightens my otherwise dull day no end. You often offer me a product to review that I have not seen before. Or along to an event that may not have been on my radar.

Innocent til proven guilty, right? Wrong
That is how it is under British Law, isn’t it? You are innocent until proven guilty. Well it appears you might be wrong to assume that these days. I was shocked when Michael Le Vell was arrested a couple of years ago on suspicion of some pretty awful crimes. And was also then surprised when he was then released because there was deemed to be insufficient evidence to bring about

Ranty Friday — Shouting down the phone
No not me. Other people doing it. This week’s Ranty Friday is all about people shouting down the phone from the first syllable out of their mouths. You know those phone calls that start with somebody basically shouting at you down the phone. It has happened to me twice this week and I have had enough of it.
