I have had this rant in my head for months but this week I went over the edge with rage. I have a real problem with these sorts of loans and not only how they operate but how they advertise. They may it look easy, they make it look like the solution to a problem. It is not.

I am in the wrong job
Do you ever have that feeling? When you hear what a friend earns? Or the perks they get? The trips they get to go on with work or the people they get to meet on a daily basis. It makes you envious and wish that you had applied for the job when you saw it. Or how about when you read of the next big thing that has just been

Weight Watchers and Patsy Kensit
This might not have registered on your radar just yet but it seems that Patsy Kensit is the new “face” of Weight Watchers. And indeed voice as her advertising it on the radio today. Now I have a problem with this for a number of reasons.

LOL etc
Teenagers think texting is just for them. They think us oldies are all luddites and have no idea. David Cameron didn’t help matters when he thought “LOL” meant “lots of love” (and in fact I have heard a story of somebody who wrote that in a condolences card as they though the same thing). What teenagers don’t know is that there is a whole list of “text speak”

Ranty Friday — Selfish Drivers
Having a bit of a rant today about drivers that don’t think one step ahead. You know the ones. The ones that think “Keep Clear” signs painted on roads don’t apply to them. They think it is decoration and that if they drive into them and don’t make eye contact with anybody we won’t notice. Or those that are in a slow moving queue of traffic, you are in

Unwanted presents on auction sites
I am sorry but who puts unwanted presents on an auction site like eBay? Unwrapped. It happens every year. Listing after listing of unwrapped presents put on eBay with disclaimers such as “these are from my ex” or “we just don’t want them”. I cannot believe that somebody hates their ex SO much that not only do they not want the presents but they don’t unwrap them but are

A Matter of Life And Death — January 2013
I was asked by the publisher if I would like to read this book and have a few copies to give away. Well how could I refuse? So I decided to make it my January Book club choice and give the free copies away on Twitter in December in the hope that those recipients would also enjoy it and then link up or leave a comment. The blurb

The first post of the new year does feel a bit like the first page of a new exercise book. And in fact my very first blog post makes the same anaology. It’s a time for best hand writing, checking punctuation and making sure the page is kept flat and doesn’t end up with a curled corner. The trouble with that philosophy though is that there is always somebody looking

My Final 2012 Post
I am not a huge fan of New Year`s Eve. All that looking back over the past 12 months and reflecting whilst looking forward to the next is so not me. It is depressing, quite frankly. Because the things that happened in 2012 that upset me could well happen again in 2013. And I don’t want to start a new year with huge expectations of “This

Cake Cutting
It’s a chore isn’t it? Something to have endless sleepless nights over. To ponder for hours. Just how do you cut a cake into anything other than four? I don’t know and I don’t care. There is never any reason for cutting a cake into more than four as far as I am concerned. If there are eight of you, buy two cakes. For six slices you
