When I first saw #FFS I genuinely thought it was a shortened version of “For F*ck Sake” as it was then followed by the name of a fellow Tweeter. I thought this showed somebody who had really annoyed you that week and that they should be avoided. Then one day I was on somebody’s #FFs list and it said something like “Lovely Tweeter, go Follow”. I couldn’t work out how

The Gallery — Light
Tara’s theme for The Gallery this week is Light. Natural light. And lots of it. Inspired by the thought that spring is just around the corner (despite us going out for lunch on Sunday in a blizzard). I could have so easily picked a photograph from our holiday but didn’t want to bore you with yet another photograph from Barbados. The light in some of those photos is extraordinary. But

Oh boy, you did all show me yours
I blogged last week about the contents of my handbag and asked for people to send me theirs. And send them you did! A handbag is a handbag isn’t it? What do we need to carry in it? A purse and some keys. Really that is all we really need. Oh and our phone. We don’t need to carry the various other assorted debris we drag around with us. Yet

Sport Relief — The online mile
As I sit here laughing at Let’s Dance on BBC1 it is easy to think that is all celebs do for Sport Relief. A bit of dancing about whilst raising money. We forget though that these celebs put themselves in the spotlight and out of their comfort zones to raise money for this amazing charity. And no celeb has been out of their comfort zone more than John

My Top Ten — by @estateagentdad
A return of my Saturday Top Ten Tune list. Havent done one for a while and I have missed them! This one though, is well worth the wait, it’s a belter. Duran Duran — Careless Memory Not the most well known perhaps of Duran Duran’s stuff, and it wasn’t my favourite record at the time, however, over the years it has grown to be a favourite – good break up

Mum of the Year Award
A short list was announced yesterday for Mum of the Year. Never before in the history of jaw droppingly ridiculous lists has my jaw dropped so low. I cannot actually repeat what I said when I saw the list as my in laws and parents (as well as my children) read this blog and it is somewhat rude. Now I am in no position to judge any other woman’s parenting

The Gallery — Friends
Over on Tara’s blog this week the theme for The Gallery is Friends. This picture pretty much sums up friendship to me: One of our wedding presents in 2008 from my parents was flights and use of their villa in Barbados (and dinner at The Cliff but that is whooooole different blog post). During one cocktail hour in a great little beach bar we overhead a

Thinking Slimmer — Weeks four and five
Sorry I didn’t do a post last week, I was having real problems with my blog and couldn’t access it to write the post and then events overtook me. So anyway. Here we are. Over a month into this now and what can I say? I am still listening to the Godly Trevor. He is just a part of my routine now and I if I stopped listening to him

Lisa Faulkner’s Recipes from my Mother for my Daughter
I loved watching Lisa’s journey on Masterchef in 2010. Without doubt my favourite winner of all the series, a view shared by Gregg Wallace who at the time said: Lisa elevates humble food into something beautiful. She’s possibly the best Celebrity MasterChef winner we have ever had As soon as I heard that Lisa was releasing a recipe book I went to Amazon (other book shops are available) and pre-ordered

Statistically speaking
…. most studies are pointless aren’t they? Do you ever see those adverts that tell you at the end that “66% of 75 women…” and think, actually that is not so great. It just isn’t a conclusive study to me. I saw this earlier. According to a recent study, 77 percent of parents who drive their kids to school find both the morning and afternoon school run more stressful

The Gallery — Landscape
As soon as I saw this week’s theme for The Gallery over on Tara Cain’s blog was landscapes I knew I had just the picture for it. This is my favourite beach on Barbados. Not my favourite place over there, those that know me will know about my “Happy Place” but that view has to be seen as photographs don’t do it justice. Photo was taken mid afternoon, height of

“That’s so gay”….
…. is an expression that makes me want to weep at worst, at best makes me cross. It is said in jest quite a lot, and with no real malice attached to it most of the time. It’s a throwaway line. But what if you don’t hear it that way? What if you hear it in such a way that makes you feel inferior for just being you? I
