Knowing what we do now about Comic Relief we know that they like to round things off properly. There is a cycle to how they work, both on a small level with maybe money being loaned to a person using a project and paid back to help others, to a bigger scale with telling fund raisers where the money goes. Or maybe with training via a project so that

Ranty Friday — Recycling clothes
I don’t mean us recycling clothes, silly. That is a brilliant idea. I am a huge fan of recycling clothes, either by giving them to a charity shop or by putting them in a clothing bank. No. What I am talking about this week on Ranty Friday is the idea that Catherine Middleton et al are “recycling clothes” by simply wearing an outfit twice. I saw a Tweet from Heat

The Gallery — Nature
Great theme for The Gallery this week (do hop over to Tara’s blog and have a look at the others that have linked up, I am expecting some glorious piles of leaves or frosty pictures). For me though nature is about warmth and not muddy fields and having to wrap up against the elements.

Hogwarts At Christmas — A review
Hogwarts At Christmas — A review I have been trying really hard not to mention Christmas until December. I don’t want to even think about it until after E’s birthday mid November, not even have it on my radar. But this year I had no choice. Well I did have a choice, of course I did, but sometimes rules are made to be broken. Especially when it involves Hogwarts. An

How posh are you?
This is one of those stupid quizzes on Facebook that we sometimes take part in for no reason other than to waste two minutes. The results are as far from scientific as it is possible to get. This particular quiz on how posh we are was one of the worst. It came with such gems as “have you ever been to or participated in a game of polo?”.

Happy Birthday Els Bells
I am being murdered as you read this. Murdered. By a 15 year old. For posting about her, including pics. But do you know what? I don’t care. My baby turns 15 today. My “made in Saudi, born in Slough” baby is now in her mid teens.

Ranty Friday — The C Word
Ranty Friday this week and I am talking about the C word. To me the most offensive of any word and one that I cannot bring myself to ever use. Is it right to use it?

The Gallery — A Younger Me
Well this is a challenge as I don’t have many photos of me looking much younger. I know lots exist in my parent’s house, squirrelled away in albums, but I can’t get my hands on them. So this week it is a few pictures of “A Younger Me” for The Gallery that I happen to have on Facebook.

Ranty Friday — Name Shortening
Have I ever introduced myself to you as Tan? Have you EVER heard me call myself that? Has anybody around me ever called me that? No. Somebody did once but it was the last thing she said for a while.

Use one word to describe yourself
It’s hard isnt it? One word that sums you up. I had to think about it when Tara, who runs The Gallery linky, asked me a few months ago. Tara was putting together a group of 25 bloggers and asking them to describe themselves. The results are here: Describe yourself in one word.

Can’t cook — Can’t cook — Mummy Barrow’s chicken pie
Yep, you got that right. Not can’t cook, won’t cook. Just can’t cook, can’t cook. My inability to cook is legendary so anything I do cook needs to be fairly idiot proof. Like my chicken pie. I made this for the first time in ages last month and thought “hmm this is so simple yet so fabulous I need to blog the recipe”. So here it is, told you it

Talking to children about alcohol
I have never talked to my children about alcohol. So if a campaign running at the moment is to be believed that must make me an irresponsible parent. “Who is the designated talker?” scream huge adverts in magazines. Er there isn’t one in this house. So am I failing my children? Am I bringing them up to be alcoholics?
